Strolling - this type of magic show is performed with the magician walking around your event performing tricks. The magician mingles with the guests and performs amazing tricks just inches from you. It is done with cards, scarves, coins, and other small props. It's very popular because the magician can entertain your guests without having a structured show. The magician performs tricks while the event is going on and is perfect for cocktail parties, intimate gatherings, and banquets – virtually any type of event where you would like magic without an actual magic show.
Parlor - this type of magic is performed for a small group of people. Parlor magic is performed at floor level and very close to the audience and is done for a larger audience than strolling magic, but a smaller audience that stage magic. Parlor magic is basically stage magic done on a smaller scale and is great for small events. One requirement of parlor magic is that the magician has to have a wall behind him and the audience in front of him – what fun is a magic show if you don’t get to try and guess how the tricks are done?
Stage/Grand Illusion - these are the magic acts in you’ve seen in Las Vegas and on television. This type of magic includes levitation and disappearing acts. This type of magic is good for a large audience. Stage/Grand Illusion magic requires elaborate and large-scale props. This type of magic show is not very interactive, but amazing to watch. Generally large stage acts include an assistant to help out with the acts
Children’s - A magician may perform for young children’s parties, schools, and camps. The magician usually wears a colorful outfit and performs highly visual magic tricks. These magicians usually have children participate in the show and have their audience join in on saying the "magic words." Many times, children’s magic shows include animals such as a bunny rabbit or a dove.
